Car power problems

The problem i'm having is that at the battery my voltmeter shows a little over 12 volts with the car idleing...when i rev the car up it goes up to a little over 14 volts. But the volt meter on the dash board shows alternator at about a consistant 14 to 15 volts. It is the cables that are bad?

Hi Pyloric
your problem is that that your voltage meter is a lot more accurate than the one mounted in your dash , this is not uncommon and should not be concidered a problem , 14 is what and alternator is suppose to put out and 12 is what you battery should read so every thing is within specs , your dash meter is close enough, stop worring nothing is broke .
