Car title

I purchase a car about 7 years ago or more and I never received my title for the car. It was financed through bank of america. I cannot recall who I made my payments to.. I would like to sell the car and I have gotten in touch with my local dmv who in turn told me to get in touch with another state dmv...which I was told then to get in touch with Nations bank... I still after 4 months have no title..Who do I need to get in touch with? Do you have a title dept?

Help! I am at wits end.

I am not an expert, but if I were you, I would make sure that the bank you contacted about the title is still the same one you started with. I had a similar experience when my brother came to live with me and we wanted to put me on the title with him but had none. I found that that bank had been sod to another and even dmv did not have that much information. Find a list of banks and see if yours is on it or if it annotates a transfer to another bank. It helped me, but it did take a while. I called up the new bank, explained, and finally got a duplicate title.
