I co-signed for a vechicle for my ex-girlfriend's son about four years ago and have since then found out that there is no way for me to get out of this comitment. The vechicle was recently reposessed by the manufacturer and he (we) still owes a very large amount of money on it after they sold the vechicle at auction. If I do a cash settlement with the manufacturer can I sue the young man in question for the money I pay out on this truck and if so am I going to win or should I just cut my losses?

You can try and sue him and you may very well win. The problem is you will probably have to take periodic payments and when he defaults on that, you have to haul him back to court again. Personally I would cut my losses and and learn a hard lesson. "never cosign on a loan that you don't plan to repay"

When you cosign for a loan, what you are saying is that you are responsible for repaying the loan if the person who signs with you can't or doesn't pay it.

because of that, you will not win if you tried to sue him. I'd just cut your loses and be careful about who you co-sign for in the future.
