During a marriage, if one person gets a gift from his parent and then the couple goes through divorce, is the gift community property? in this case it is a car. My ex plans to sell "his" car and keep 100% of the profits and I feel I should get 50%. Am I right? I'd be left with no car in this case once he sells it and if I get nothing, then I'll have to finance with no down payment on a car.

I still dis agree with Rick, it is acquired during a marriage, it is 1/2 yours. My parents gave me property during marriage, it was my name, but since acquired during marriage, he got 1/2.
