Do i need a new transmission?

My '98 honda accord has been acting up for a while now. it takes a long times for it to go from shift 1 to 2, the revolution will go up to about 5k before switching to shift 2. it is automatic.

You might try a few things before spending a lot of money, theres a filter in the transmission tht you can change , and it might be stopped up. theres also a vent pipe on the trans, where it gets air, it might be stopped up , theres also a sensor tht can be unplugged that dont do any thing really , that will also do this action, dont give up yet but try a few things, shift solenoid could be bad also , dont forget this one, so hope you luck finding it, without spending money

Baring a mechanical problem there is chemical solutions---my personal preferance is k&w transmission conditioner i have used it for over 30 years and seen it do remarkable things including shift problems follow lable instructions it cost between 9.00 and 11.00 as compaired to 1500.00 to 2000.00 for a rebuilt trans ===CAUTION ==NO TRANSMISSION CO. OR DEALER OR REPAIR CENTER WILL RECCOMEND THIS ==== as far as i am concerned it is because it works ====it cleans out the varnish in trans. and expands seals expect results in first 15 to 25 minuites of driving
