Need you to clarify where you are and are not getting power:

1. Do you have power at the electrical connection that plugs into the ignition coil?

2. If you have power to the coil, do you have power coming off the coil? (plug a wire onto the coil and directly to a spark plug)

3. If you have power from the coil, hook it up to the distributor. Do you have spark on each of the six plugs?

To try and help I'm going to make a guess at what you meant in your post: Power to and from the coil is good, but once you hook up the coil to the distributor, you are not getting any spark at the plugs. If that is the case then it sounds like a problem with the distributor. Inspect the cap and rotor and make sure that they are servicable. It should be pretty clean inside. There should be no cracks in the cap or rotor. The points should be solid and complete. The rotor should not spin by hand

Power to the coil but No power from the coil, I was wondering if the distributor was bad, the coil would not energize because the points were not opening and closing.

A mechanics first thought is, There has to be something that was missed.
However, NOT if it's Fuel Injected.
Could be the ECM, Crank Position Sensor, or Cam Position Sensor.

Hello mekanic,
You must have been reading the first response, The OP never mentioned points.
I did not notice that the thread was over a year old. LOL.
Hope all is well for you.
Have a great day.

Actually Jamie, the post right above yours stated:

" the coil would not energize because the points were not opening and closing."

And now the latest response simply has me scratching my head.

Hello mekanic.
The post you pointed out was not the OP (original poster) it was a guy like You and Me trying to figure out what was wrong.
I can see where you missed it though. The way the post was written made it look like a reply by the OP.
Have a great day friend.
Jamie.

I thought maybe for some reason, he could not recover account access, and created a new user ID and password, as the user had only two posts...
