Why doesnt 96 chevy suburban shift into Gear? It starts and runs ,but it doesnt shift out of park.and the brake pedal is depressed!

What may be some solutions for my 1976 ford f100 manual transmission that will not shift into Gear? Wont shift into Gear even with shift linkage off and tryong to shift it by hand underneath...

Sounds like the shift rod under the car is slightly bent , have a machnic check it, and oil it while under there,
