How long was it set up before you ran it? If it has been a while and you store it in hot dry place it would be you have a bad carb, bad gas and or water.
If you drain the gas and put on a new fuel filter and it still does it then I would think your carb. is bad. Note the brushes on the generator will not make the motor cut off. I would assume that with this unit being on your motor home it sits for long periods of time. Sometimes for a year or more. So all the above are possible.
