I have a 1996 Pontiac Grand Prix that will not start for at least 1/2 hour after it has run for 30-40 minutes. It will try to start but never totally runs. Leaving it set for the 1/2 hour solves the problem and it starts right up. If I make a short 10 minute trip it will start.

Any ideas?

I had a car that done me that way so i never turned it off unless i was going to be some place for more than 30 mins , then i got tired of it and traded in , drove it in to the car lot and looked around for 30 mins so it would start when they test drove it , that will fix your problem

I had this problem on many vehicles and 9 times out of ten it was because the solenoid was cooked...so the reason it will start after 30mins or so is because it has had the time to cool off. i would however suggest that you replace the solenoid and starter
