You problly dont have to take the whole headlight out to change the bulb , should just be a cover over the bulb at the back of the light , take it off and turn the bulb a half turn and it comes out , becarful not to touch the glass part of the new bulb with your fingers it will cause it to blow when you turn it on , just handle the plastic part

Thanks Rick. That is how most head lights come out but there is no room behind on this car. Great GM engineering. I need to get the whole head light set to move foward to get access. Still stuck!

Headlight Removal 2003 Pontiac G-6

1. Open Hood

2.. Remove (2) Bolts top of headlamp assembly

3. Remove the push in retainers across the fascias

4. Remove headlamp assembly (Lift headlamp assembly upward to release the locating tabs from front edge of fender)

5. Disconnect the main electrical connector from headlamp assembly

6. Remove the headlamp access cover to remove bulb (turn covers counter clock wise) (covers look like small coffee can lids) Bulbs come out counter clock wise also.

Good Luck!

Thanks Spout. I almost thought I had it but the light still wont let go at the fender. I lifted fairly hard, I dont want to break anything. Have you removed one this way before?

2005 Pontiac G6.I got the head light out! Spout396s procedure was correct except #4, the light pulls straight out from fender. It is held on by a thinguhmajig. A metal bolt that plugs into a plastic socket. I had to pull the light out at the other end, as much as possible, and spray some oil on the retainer (thinguhmajig) to free it up.Let the oil penetrate for a while. You can't pull to hard because the plastic socket is mounted in a thin metal strip inside the fender,it doesn't seem to sturdy.I didn't have to disconnet any wiring, just open the plastic cover on back to get at bulbs.Props to my brother-inlaw,he has seen these connectors on other vehicle headlights.Hope this helps any other DIYers. Thanks again to Spout396 & Rick.
