How does the uninsured motorist coverage work?

My husband was out of town in a rental car and accidentally hit a pole that he didn't see as it was covered in snow. Does this coverage apply to help cover the cost of the repair for the rental?

If he didnt get a extra insurance policy with the rental, your insurance will kick in and pay this . the same as it would your car. uninsured motorist coverage , works the same for this!
