I own a 96. I put in 5 1/2 in. Now days, I using 6. It uses a extra 1/2 beteen oil changes.
If you didn't include filling the filter before install, that could be your extra pint (1/2 qt.).
It still takes 5 1/2, 6 is 1/2 quart over. I don't want to sound neg.
What I thought he may have done is filled the filter before install, and added 5 1/2 to the crankcase.
Having owned a ford taurus myself, and my husband always changed the oil himself. he says 5 quarts is all you need
Well I and Mekanic and Hooky 983 I guess wrong. The 5 quarts must be right. I give up!
Bahrain447 never ever give up . this is to much fun and we need to really find out why all of us are getting these numbers. aim am assuming there might be a larger oil tank on some of the cars . and i had a pickup from ford one time that took 7 quarts to fill it up and had 2 dip sticks on it also . one in the front and one in the back of the motor . never did know why this happened
