I have a 964 porsche with trouble-code 34 showing. Where should I check other than the distributor.

I have replaced the distributor.

Code 34 is EGR valve (Exhaust Gas Recirculation ) not getting any flow ,needs replacing , could be causeing the same effects as a huge vacume leak , I'll let you borrow my wrenches to replace it, Please return then clean
