The change oil light is set to come on by the mileage on the vehicle, when you change the oil you have to follow manufactuers procedure to reset the counter. Some chevys require you turn the switch on and push the gas pedal to the floor three times, and then turn the switch back off and on. As far as the oil light staying on for 6 seconds, the vehicle is having whats called a dry start. when an engine gets 100,000 miles on it the main bearings are wore and it takes longer to build oil pressure, it is perfectly normal for a worn engine, as long as the light goes out within 6-8 seconds. If you like you could use 50 weight motor oil, and lucas oil stabilizer should fix the dry start!
