If a car contract has not been made final but you have signed some papers

If you go a get a used car and decide the next day that you do not want the car and the contract has not been closed can you return the car? on 11-28-2007 i signed a contract on a used car but we were waiting on the down payment for this purchase to be complete. the car was to go in my name and my finance's name. i signed my name and they had me sign his while he was at work. he has since decided that this is not the car for us. since the down payment has not been made and the contract is not closed can we take the car back? or are we stuck with a car he doesn't want and did not sign for?

I had a friend who went to a dealer, decided on a car, and left the lot in it. he was approved for the loan and sigend a hole lotta paper work. the next day he decided he didnt want the car. he took it back and the said he had to get it. however he had not paid them anything and when it came down to it the dealership couldnt make him give them money so they took the car back. infact in his contract it said that if they do not recieve a payment in a certain time period the dealership will take the car back. you might want to see if you signed anything that says that because then you can just not give them the money and they will take the car back. bottom line is no one can make you give them money and if you dont then they get the car back.

First off, where is the car, did you ever drive it off the lot as yours? if you never drove it off the lot, then you have a pretty good case for not keeping it.

And since the down payment and the rest of the contract wasn't finished, along with the fact it is a used car and not a new car, i think you can get out of it.

But since you posted this 7 days ago, I'm guessing you made a yea or nay decision already on the car. I'd love to hear what happened if you have a chance.
