The law cannot get involved in any car repo. U can get your plates. The only way u could get arrested is if they repo the car & u steal it back. Otherwise they have to take u to court. It is a civil matter, not a crimminal matter.

If my vehicle is up for repossession in indiana can i still renew my plates?
My car is up for repossession in indiana can i still renew my plates and drive my car? also the repo man told my references that there was a body tag on my car meaning if i got pulled over i would go to jail, and that i was wanted on felony warrants for having the car is this valid and is it legal for the repo man to make these statements up?

This could be true if the repo service/ or the car company has filed in court already. The vehicle once ordered by the court to be surrendered, is not done and the order complied to then the judge may grant them a bench warrant for contempt, in addition to making the vehicle a stolen so that it is seized by lwa enforcement. Yes you can renew your tags and drive the vehicle but the attachment the repo speaks of is usally for you.
