Is the cost to replace a timing belt and tensioner on a 1999 Plymouth Neon apprx $1000 due to the need for an upgraded tensioner w/ kit?

A mechanic told us that an uppgraded tensioner is now required on this model of car and that with the upgraded tensioner, new front and rear covers need to be installed. Total parts and labor for timing belt, tensioner and tensioner kit parts total to approx $1000. Does this sound reasonable?

No no no , go to a good junk yard and get the stuff you need , and have some one , put this back on for you , you dont need updated stuff, on this car, i get mad at people trying to take advantage of some one.,
