Car wont engage into gears.

If you haven't already you should start with the basics. First place to start is to check the transmission fluid with the engine warmed up and running and in park. If the level is ok take a sniff of the fluid on the dipstick. Is it burn't smelling? Also is it dirty or brown? if so you're probably looking at major trans repairs. You should also check the shift linkage on the transmission to be sure it's moving when you move the shifter thru the gears.

Thank you for the reply. I did check the fluid l.evel and it is overfilled, smells burnt, and is definately brown in color. Which sucks. Where do i go from here? Is this anything i could try and fix myself or do i just suck it up and bring it in?

You Could drop the transmission pan and inspect what is in it. look at the magnet, check the filter more excessive debris. More than likely its time for a rebuild it sounds like the reverse drum/clutchpack inside the transmission went out on you.
