How do you remove the governor on a john deere gator?

Lift up the back, and you should see a small black plate/cover, this is attached by a couple nuts, once you unscrew that you will see the throttle and there will be a screw preventing it from letting out alot of gas when the accellorator is pushed down. Unscrew that as much as you want for more speed. You will however also need to unscrew the big bolt underneath the gas pedal.

Remove the governor cover. Locate a small spring that connects the governor assy to the carborator throttle linkage. Use stiff wire or tie wraps to prevent the spring from expanding. This will keep the governor from throttling back the carburator.
