Could be a blown fuse or cooling fan resistor as well. Did you replace the correct sensor/sender? Remember there is a coolant temperature sensor for the computer, and a coolant temperature sender for the gauge/idiot light. Plus the coolant temperature sensor/sender for the coolant fan itself. Did you replace the proper one?

The sensor for the electric cooling fan is called the "cooling fan switch". The unit for the gauge is the temp sending unit.

Also here is a simple test that is fairly fool proof. With the car running turn on the air conditioning. This should automatically turn on the cooling fan. If it doesn't come on then I would suspect the fan itself is bad. Follow the wires from the fan to find where it unplugs. Unplug it and run a jumper wire from the battery's positive post to the fan directly and a another jumper for the ground. If it still won't run you know you have a bad fan.
