Did you charge the battery up after putting on the new alternator? It is possible to ruin a new alternator by overworking it if your battery is low on charge. Alternators aren't rwlly designed to charge a dead battery. They are designed to power a cars electrical system. And replace a small amount of power used up while starting the car or when the car is not running. Also I would have the battery tested. It may have a bad cell.

My son has a 99 chevy malibu,battery light is on?
Yester day had problems, checked altenator on load test it was not charging. installed rebuilt altenator car worked fine. he took off back to where he is working, about 60 miles into his trip he stopped for gas, when he started up again the battery light came on.. any ideas..

What we found was a broke wire that goes to the starter,, fixed that and the problem went away.

Ck the belt bel to loose need adjustment star there.
