My 1995 escort front end shakes when I put on the brakes what could the reason be

I have a 95 Ford Escort it drives good but, the front end shakes when I put on the brakes. What could cause that?

The fist thing i would think would be warpped front brake rotors, the rotors have high and low spots on them causing a brake pulsation. double check to make sure you dont have any loose front end parts this could cause a shake as well such as a loose outer tie rod end or a loose front wheel bearing. if the front end is tight and ok i would do a front brake job with new brake rotors, lube all your brake slides, clean up all the rust on the rotor mating surfaces, clean rust off calipers and where they make contact as well, rust and dirt is your enemy when it comes to brakes. good luck hope you find the problem.
