My van will start but wont stay running

I have a 1989 gmc safari and i can start it but it will not stay running, i changed the coli, cap an rotor, an checked the fuel pump but all of that only stopped the check engine light from coming on and stopped the backfiring, but i still cannot get it to stay running please help me and tell me what is wrong.....

There are 3 things that make a motor run compression , gas and fire , i would try pouring a little gas in it while it is runing and see if that keeps it running a little longer , if so you know its not getting gas , carb could need a new float and needle valve and sit or a jet stopped up
