I think that it depends on your company. I had gotten a crack from a stupid dump truck, my insurance company paid for it.
HOWEVER, my mother had one and her insurance company didn't pay.
Call your insurance company and ask, all they can do is say no. Good Luck!

I bought a portable GPS by Magellan and it attaches to the windshield by a suction cup. Is this legal in California? I placed it at a very low spot in the middle section of the windshield. It does not block...
Could the problem be a fuse? The wipers will open, but no noise when I try to clean my windshield with the washer fluid. I have washer fluid, so that's not the problem. Thanks Sandy
