Problem with car cutting off when decelerate and braking

I have a 2002 mitsubichi diamante with 40,000 miles. I have taken car to dealer and an independant car repair shop. Both places were uable to correct the problem. What happens is that sometimes when i stop, decellerate or brake the car completly cuts off lighting up the dashboard indicating problems. I can, however put it in "n" and it will start up again. I am scared to drive it on a highway with the fear that i may not be able to start the car fast enough and get hit in the rear. Before it cuts off it hesitates, in which i accelerate and can rev it up. And am able to stop it from cutting off. But what sometimes happens is that if in traffic i fear runnig into the vechicle ahead of me. What do you think is wrong. This car has been barely used.

If the check engine light is not on, more than likely the air filter could be stopped up or the fuel injectors could be dirty,

The check engine and other warnings light up. I have also changed the air filter had injectors cleaned. I also used injector cleaner with a full tank of gas.
