The solenoid is located betweenthe battery andthestarteror on the starter. follower the positive battery cable, if it leads to the fender or fire wall, there will be a small unit it connects to. that is the solinoid. If the wire goes down to the starter then the solinoid is on or in the starter. the one on the firewall is easy to replace. If it is on the starter you will have to remove the starter

I have 98 towncar wont go in d,1,2 only r does that mean transmission is shot or can it be something simple?
I had the oil changed on Monday evening and they said my transmission fluid was about a quart low and they topped it off. I drove the car on Tuesday with no problems, the car sat on in the driveway on Wedensday...
When it is started cold, the transmission functions normally until it is warmed up. Then after it is warmed up, all forward and reverse gears are lost. Then if you shut off the motor and immediately start it back...
