Basically yes. Although every car has a different feel and different features, all cars basically drive the same way. There is always a steering wheel, a gas pedal, and a brake pedal, as well as a transmission shifter.
The biggest difference in cars are whether they are a manual transmission or an automatic transmission. Many people who only drive an automatic, can't drive a manual, because of the extra work you have to put in, and the timing it takes.
When driving a new car, it's best to figure out how loose/tight the steering wheel is, how the pedals feel, and the acceleration of the car. Everything else is basically extra, and aren't the most important things when it comes down to basic driving.
