I'm sure there are. Where do you live?
here in Denver, there are places that I drive by all the time for work, that offer outdoor car storage. I imagine that there are places like that near where you live.

You can rent out a garage space and pay monthly on it and I'm thinking if you don't have the money to fix your car you probably don't have the money to pay for a garage space.
If the car doesn't look broken down and looks decent as long as you keep the tag current you can park it at your residence or a friends residence. No one should bother you for awhile and you can set aside money to fix it.
Although my advice would be that if you can't afford to fix it in 6 months, donate the car to charity or take it to a junk yard. Use what money you have to buy a running used car.
I agree with skoolie - and if you donate your car, you can use that donation as a tax write-off, just be sure to get a receipt and make sure the chariety that you donate to has a 501(c)(3) tax exempt status, or you won't be able to deduct it.
