Transmission slipping

I have a 1993 taurus when the car gets good and warmed up when i come to a stopthe car doesnt want to move but i can put in reverse and it will kick into gear then i can put it back in drive and it will go the guy i bought the car from had the tranny serviced filter and fluid less than 2000 miles ago but he didnt ask the mechanic why it would slip the way it does if you could give me an idea of what it is would be appreciated thank you

When it warms up the bands in the trans will slip , and when you put it in rev, it tightens the band s up and then you tho, it in gear and it takes off you need a trans over haul
