Tune up?

I have a 2000 ford Taurus and the last 2 wks and it isnt every time when I start the car it sounds and feels like it is running real rough and wont take off like normal almost like its a struggle. My oil light came on so I checked the oil it was a quart low so I added.the light still on but not every time. I also added a bottle of carb cleaner to full tank. I noticed there is a white rust like substance around one of the connectors to my battery could that be the problem

You need a good tune up and for sure clean your battery cables could have some low oil pressure ( not goosd at all ) but dont make it sluggish , or the battery , thats probably the need of a tune up

You may have added oil but what was the condition of the oil? Low dirty oil makes your engine run poorly & eats up gas. Proper maintanence. If battery terminals are corroded clean & tighten. You can have an ed-18 performed @ almost any repair center to test(free) your battery life & charging system.

Its been my experience and I worked on lots of cars and types with various troubles that your trouble is fouled spark plugs and bad wires. Put your hand in back of the exhaust pipe when its started and if you feel putts instead of a nice steady flow of exhaust its going to lead you to the Valves or wires and plugs. You can pull the plugs out and put a piece of cloth in the spark plug holes and see if the compression pushes out the cloth if any remain theres trouble in that cylinder, if you change the plugs and wires and you still feel a putt putt out of the exhaust you have valve troubles. If your car smokes when you start up then goes away the valve seals are bad if smoke continues all the time rings
