Vehicle state listed on ticket incorrect

Got a ticket in NV for expired tag. Vehicle is licensed in CA. Ticket listed the license plate as from NV.

This happened to me a few years ago and I wrote the police who wrote the ticket and explained the numbers matched but the state didn't. I also explained I was never in that state. I never heard from them again.
