What degree of timing on a 302 ford

I have a 302 with hydrolic cam adjustable rockers and guide plates that has a noisey valvetrain. can not get it adjusted.

Noisy valvetrains are from lack of lubrication to the lifters. This means your engine is full of sludge, and needs to be boiled out. It is much easier (and cheaper) to just put another engine in it.

What type adjusters do you have? Does the valve system get ample oil? Not knowing the answer to these questions it is dificult to give a good answer.

Are you sure they are adjustable? most 302s are torqued to specs ,and that all.
