What will happen in court?

I have to go to court for driving without insurance. I ended up getting insurance three days after I was ticketed. I knew my insurance record was going to be clear soon, so I was waiting, thus, I could get cheaper insurance, but now I am so scared. What fines, jail, points will occur. Please help. I go to court today and now for some reason it is hitting me hard.

The Officer was nice, he followed me home and let me drive the car home seeing as I was five minutes away from my house.

I reside in Toronto, Ontario.

Please help

That was a nice officer - a jerk would have impounded your car. Since you have insurance now, you will likely just pay a fine, just be sure to bring your proof of insurance. In the States they may make you carry an SR-22 (High Rish Auto Insurance) which is a type of expensive insurance that notifies the courts if your insurance lapses.

But I doubt you will have to do anything like that if you have a clean record. My guess is probably a fine.

Should I plead guilty, guilty with an explanation, not guilty, get a lawyer? I heard that the minimum fine is $5,000.00?

YOu should be okay. you'll get a fine of couple hundred dollars. What was the reason you got the ticket in the first place. Yes you should plead guilty and explain you have insurance now and your situation. Minimum fine $5000 i dont think that can be the minumum fine because that fine wouldnt fit the crime. If the cop was that nice he probly gave you a ticket so you would get the insurance and probly is like a fix it ticket.
