Why is my car overheating?

My car is overheating and it turns of?

Could be the temperture control on the top of the water pump , some times when they go bad they stay closed, and wont open to get cool er water in the engine, and could be the raditer stopped up also, the tremastat on the water pump top of the motor ,connects to the large hose on top of the radiater, is the one that connects to the water pump at the motor , thats the one that you want to check , 3 bolts or 4 , take off at the motor, inside you will find the thremastat, try that 1st see if is bd

It turns off with a ? so it might turn off, and you don't know?

it could be all sorts of things from overheating and the thermostat is turning off the car. or it just gets hot and the car can't function.

do you have enough oil in it? that could be it. what about coolant? have you checked the levels of that lately?
