Wow - that is harsh!

Just FYI, sometimes African American babies are born VERY light-skinned and get darker during the first year. My best friend had a little boy (she's very light and he's very dark) and the baby looked completely white until he was like 12 months old. If he's that worried tell him to get a paternity test.

I concur, that is harsh.

and yes, to agree with datscool, babies from dark skinned parents can be light skinned colored up to a year in age, then they would turn a darker skin color. the same goes with hair color and eye color and how it can change in the early years.

if in doubt, have them take a DNA test to prove he is the father.

A paternity test is in order. The funny thing about genetics is that kids don't always come out looking like their parents. They can come out looking more like a grandparent, or a cousin.... Just because they don't look exactly like him does NOT mean he isn't the father. However, there is nothing we can say here that will convince an ignorant person to take responsibility for their children. The mom will want to get a paternity test to remove all doubt.
