Baby bathtime blues

My little girl is 11 months old and has always loved her bath time, but in the last week or so she has changed. She no longer plays and enjoys her bath instead she screams as if she is being tortured and hates having water poured over her. I have tried to get her to lay down in the bath tub to rinse her off, but she still seems so frightened. Her father and I are the only ones to give her a bath and have no idea what could be the cause of this change. There has been no traumatic event in the bathtub that we know of. She is always with us or my parents, so I know she is okay. I was wondering if it is normal for babies to go through a change like this?

I have a 9-month-old who just started this about 2 weeks ago. I had no idea what was going on, and really, I still don't, but I thought it was odd too. I got her a rubber ducky and some rubber baby aligators and now she doesn't mind bathtime. Maybe they just need a distraction now? Who knows. I hope that helps.

It's normal for babies to get scared in the tub. They sell little inflatable tubs that go inside the big tub, it may be a little less scary for her (I got mine at Walmart - it had a big poo bear on it). Also you can try getting in the bath with her or take a shower with her. Just remember a wet baby is hard to hold onto especially when your wet too - if you wrap a baby towel around her it will be easier to hold her. You can also get some of the "crayon" soaps. She might like seeing the color on her skin.
My biggest help has been my older son. They usually bathe together so he plays with him while I wash him. If you have any other kids or even neices/nephews or something have them over and give them a bath. They can show her it's fun.
My baby doesn't like to lay down either - he actually stands through most his bath. I got a sponge and use that to wet his hair and rince him. He thinks its funny.
I hope one of these helps. She will out grow this eventually.

Try putting her in the tub with you.
