If you are laid off from a job for no fault of your own you can collect unemployment, but a company can't lay you off for being pregnant, so you can't really plan on it as maternity pay. Plus in order to be on unemployment.
You can see if your employer has Short Term Disability Insurance. If you have paid into short term disability for around a year (check with your employer to see if you are eligible) then you can collect that for having a baby and it usually is about 1/4 - 1/2 of your salary.
