Can you get pregnant if you tubes have been burned?

I had two kids by the time I was 21 so I the docter burned my tubes and said there was no chance of even reversing it. I have never been late for my period since. I'm almost 2 weeks late. Can I still get pregnant? And can I find out by just buying a home pregnancy test?

What are the odds of becoming pregnant once you have had Tubal Ligation? The U.S. Collaborative Review of Sterilization (CREST) found the failure rate for tubal ligation (all occlusion methods including burning) to be 1.85% after 10 years. Of the sterilization failures in CREST, one third were ectopic pregnancies (not within the uterus). Because of the high rate of ectopic pregnancy, women of child bearing age who have had tubal sterilization should have a pregnancy test performed if they have not had a menstrual period. If the woman is pregnant, then she should be evaluated further for the presence of an ectopic pregnancy.

Yes, it is POSSIBLE, but highly unlikely. The failure rate is only 1.4% as a recent study found that out of 10,000 women who had their tubes tied and burned only 143 got pregnant. There are a couple things that increase those odds:

1) If you had your tubes tied right after a c-section
2) If it has been more than 10 years since you had your tubes tied

If you are 2 weeks late a pregnancy test should be able to tell you by now if you are pregnant or not. Good luck!

To eliminate the stress you're undoubtedly experiencing over this, go down (or up) to a local drug store and purchase a pregnancy test you can administer at home. If you're pregnant (which is highly unlikely), congratulations. If you are not pregnant, consider yourself a survivor of the statistics wars.

Even after tubal ligation, pregnancy is statistically possible. Heck, if you believe the Bible, pregnancy is possible without even having sex with a man . . .

If you are not pregnant but continue to experience irregular periods; let your doctor check you out to make sure everything is OK.

I can tell you right now that you can get pregnant even if you have had your tubes "burned". My mother had her tubes burned and then along I came. So, to answer your question, yes you can.
