My baby is about to start crawling and there is so much stuff you can buy for childproofing - what are the BIG things I should do?

Childproof locks on the cabinets & kitchen drawers.

Have her wear football helmet. Okay, that might be overdoing it.

I always did Outlet plugs for sure, and now you can by a little device that keeps them from unpluging stuff to. Bottom cupboard and drawer locks, nothing like an 11 month old hoisting themselves up with the handle of the knife drawer OUCH! Toilet bowl locks, refrigarator door latch (I actually found my oldest in the fridge once) she was 2, wanted to see the light come on. Very scary. and of course the all importand blind cord wrap if you have blinds. And then you have to rescue your knick knacks from her. I never put all of them away, just the special ones, kids like to explore, and one way they explore is with there mouth, everything gets tasted, so keep that in mind to. Have fun though, this is the best time!!
