Giving my baby to a couple I am friends with

I am pregnant and since the day I found out I told a couple I am friends with that I want them to have the baby since they can't have their own. They have gone to doctor appointments with me and I am happy they can have this experiance through me. Now her lawyer says we have to get an adoption agency involved and I dont want it done that way, because it looks like I am just giving him up to be adopted and the agency is who placed him with them. Can't we just go before a judge and I sign my rights to them and it be legal? This is not how I wanted it to happen.

Private adoptions can be scary from their perspective should you change your mind, but they are very common. You do not have to get an agency involved. You may want to seek a lawyer that is not a general practice or even a family lawyer, but someone who specializes in adoptions.

Here is a directory to find an adoption lawyer:

In a private adoption you will just release your rights to the adoptive parents and not to and agency. There is no reason to get a middle man involved, if both you and the parents are fine with the terms.
