Kittens are considered newborn from the first to the 15th day. Eyes open around the 9th- 12th day. But when the eyes open the kitten can not see right away. a few more days after they open they react to light. They do not repond to movement until the 15th-20th day of life Between the 9th and 12th day they will sstand walk and hop, rather wobbly. At about 3 weeks the kitten is able to see its mother and siblings.
As far as still being pregnant. Cats can have contractions when she is nursing the kittens to bring her uterus back to size. Just make sure the Mom is getting plenty of water near where she delievered You may want to add vitamins to her food. SHe may be hungry after the delivery.

Good luck

If your cat is still showing signs of contractions this long after giving birth, she should be seen by your vet, as she may be retaining after birth material and this can lead to seriouse infection if left untreated. What you may be seeing however is "milk let down" and this may look like a contraction to the untrained eye, if it is only happening while the kittens are nursing, I wouldn't worry.

Your kittens ears and eyes will begin to open between 10 and 14 days old, and the should be handled by you only when necessary until this point to avoid serious eye infections.

Your nursing mom should be being fed a good quality kitten food as long as she is nursing.
