I am living in Brazil and I have not worked for the past three years.

My husband is trying to get his permanent visa and the american consulate is requiring me to give them "instructions" of why I have not filed for taxes. Do you know what they mean by "instructions"?

Did they say it in English or Portuguese? It sounds like there may have been a mistranslation or something.. ?

That's all that you have to say is that you have not filed taxes because you had no income. Did you ever file joint with your husband?
