Had spotting, late period but negative pregnancy test result..why is that?

I took hpt Oct. 31 but got negative result..today Nov.5, I'm having heavy menstuation why is that? I thought I was pregnant. I'm not using any pills.

Depending on your age, irregular menstruation is common. Many factors like diet & exercise influence when you get your period, for how long, and how heavy. If you were using birth control pills, they would help to regulate your menstrual cycle. So if this becomes a common occurrence, you may want to consider using them. Before you do so, get yourself checked out. Sometimes ovarian cysts or other similar issues can cause bleeding, so you'll want to either rule those out or get treated for them.
