Is it possible to get pregnant after having your tubes tied?

I had my tubes tied a little over a year ago. I am 10 days late for my period. Can I be pregnant? I am never late for my period.

You could be. . . it IS possible in the sense that it has certainly happened before. It's not likely, however, but if you're never late for your period I'd be a bit worried. Since you have had your tubes tied you should get evaluated because if you are pregnant you have a higher chance of an ecxtopic pregnancy, which, at some point will become an emergency. Let us know what happens & good luck to you!

I am looking more for the percentage rate of it. I called my doctor and they said to take a pregnancy test.

According to a study I found on wikianswers.com, the odds of becoming pregnant after having a tubal ligation are 143 in 10,000 or a 1.4% chance. The study also stated that the failure rate increased to 1.85% after 10 years. Hope this helps...good luck!

Thanks. That was the kind of answer I was looking for. Not just the statistics.

I had my tubes tied August 20th. Now, Ive had morning sickness for about a week now. I called my doctor to find out which procedure was done, and they said that i was tied and cut. could i be pregnant again? please, i need sum help. i know it may be too early to take a test, but i really wanted to find out as early as possible so that i could weigh my options. I called the "ask your nurse" hotline, and they told me that i could be and to see a doctor in a few weeks.Im so confused. they never really explained to me what was going on, and i kinda made the hasty decision to get them tied after loosing two children. i just didnt want to endure that type of loss again. does anyone have any advice?
