Regular examinations by the pediatrician should reveal whether or not there is reason to be concerned. I'm sure that your pediatrician checks the soft spot as a normal routine in the well baby check. Feel free to ask him about your concern during your next visit. It could just be the rate at which your baby's soft spot is closing. Some baby's growth progress in this area can be as late as 2 years. Some are earlier. Below is a cut and paste from a similar question asked and answered on parentivillage.com:

The anterior fontanel is the one most parents recognize as the soft spot. It's on top of the head toward the front. Four bones come together at this spot, but, because of their rounded corners, they don't quite meet. This soft spot may close as early as nine months of age or as late as two years. The average is between 12 to 14 months.

Hi,
Don't worry! My daughter was 2 1/2 years old when hers STARTED to close. I was so concerned that I asked the Dr. to do a CAT scan just to make sure that everything was okay. After putting my poor daughter through an ultrasound then a CAT scan which thank goodness all came back normal her soft spot started to close. There is nothing you could do to speed up the process. If you are really concerned and would like to ease your mind have your Dr. do a CAT scan. Just be prepared unless I REALLY have to I will never want to do that again. They had to give her a shot to put her under so that she wouldn't move in the machine and it was the worst feeling in the world to have your child in your arms lifeless. So if you don't have to don't put yourself through it.

Babies are born with 2 soft spot, 1 on the top of their head and the other in the back. The one on the top usually closes by the time they're one but the one in the back can take as long as 3 years to be completely closed. If you're still very concerned I would have the pediatrican take a look and calm your worries :)
