My 16 month old hits herself in the head, is it normal?

She keeps hitting herself, trying to get attention. Is that a normal developement?
She doesn't do it hard, and starts laughing.

Yes alot of kids will do it for attention at that age so. only if they start to do it hard then should try and stop them but if its soft they will find it funny to do

Yes it is normal. It's actually normal for them to hit themselves hard as well (wait for tantrums and you'll understand). Just ignore the behavior, and tell everyone else to do the same. Don't smile, say 'no' or respond at all. Just look away, and pretend you didn't see her. She will get bored with it not getting her attention and stop on her own.
