I didn't see this post until now or I would have answered sooner. Hopefully you have called your pediatrician or taken your baby to the ER. Fever, like pain is an indication that something is wrong. There is an infection of some sort, whether bacterial or viral. Bacterial infections can be treated by anti-biotics, viral infections cannot. You did not state if the baby had any other symtoms so it is hard to say much more. Meningitis is one of the things you want to rule out. It is an infection of the meniges, which is the protective lining of the brain, and can be either viral or bacterial, and can also be fatal. Sometimes in the afternoon/evening hours babies and children will have a slightly higher temp but not to that degree. did you administer childrens motrin? That would be the first course of action. Never give childrens aspirin as it increases the chance of Reyes (pronounced Rise) Syndrome. Hope you baby is doing better. Susu

There is certainly some kind of an infection going on with that kind of a fever. Doctors around here might and might not even check for something going on. They would probably suggest giving the child tylenol and ibuprofen rotated every 4 hours. Also, lukewarm baths. My 11 year old has crohns disease and her temp. got up to 105 one night....... what I just told you is what they told me...... after abaout the 4thtime in the lukewarm bath, the temp finally went down to 101 or 102...... I ended up taking her to the ER anyhow because it just wouldn't go down any further. They admitted her, ran some tests and that's when they found the crohn's.
