If you two were not married, then somehow you will have to prove that she is his child. If you listed him on the birth certificate as the father, then that is step one. Honestly, you probably need to contact a lawyer who is experienced in Social Security law and speak with hm. At some point, DNA may be requested to prove this which means his family will know. But consider this, they may be THRILLED to have a new grandbaby that will continue on their family line and be an extension of him. I know if I lost my son and I then learned that he did have a child out there, I would be ecstatic to know his life continued on somehow. Good luck and best wishes.

My child's father died before she was borncan she still get social security and how?
When i was four months my child's father pasted away and i don't really know his family. So how do i go about doing this? My child is 2 and i'm trying to find out if she can still get social security and if so how?
