My friend has black mold in her basement. The house is currently unoccupied as she lives out of state.

A few months ago, she had water in her basement from a terrible rainstorm. The water eventually dried up but then the mold started. Unfortunately she did not have the money to have someone come in professionally, and now her electric, gas and water has been turned off due to non-payment. I have the only key to go in the house at this time and I had been going there about every three weeks to water her plants which had been in her kitchen. Last week I took them to my own home as it is easier to take care of them. MY QUESTION IS: Someone said to me today, that I should get them out of my house right away as they could have mold spores in them. We have a new baby grandson who was a preemie who had lots of medical problems and he is coming home tomorrow. He will be at our house this Sat. as I am giving his mom a shower so he and his dad will be here at our home across the street while the shower takes place. I am worried now that the plants have contaminated my home and it could affect our little baby grandson. I put the plants outside on our patio today so they are no longer in the house. How long until they are o.k. to bring back in and what do you think about this? Please repond ASAP. Thanks, Bonnie

How bad was the black mold in this house? was it anywhere near the plants?

unless it was growing on, or even close to the mold, i wouldn't worry about it.

so unless you see black mold on the plants, I'd think they would be fine.
