Newborn and insurance

How soon do I need to get coverage on my baby. I am due in August. After the baby is born is he/she covered in case any health problems or do I need to call my insurance company and add the baby to our policy before he/she are born?

For most insurance companies you have 30 days from birth to give them all the info they need. You should call your insurance company and be sure though and let them know your due date so they have the paperwork ready for you. If you don't get the info turned in right away and something happens (within the 30 days) you will be covered once you turn it in. Basically the insurance company will reimburse you if you pay out any money. Most doctors and hospitals know how this works though and will just bill your insurance if you have to take the baby in - even if you havent gotten the baby added yet.
